There’s something so simple but effective about a classic shape light-wash denim paired with a basic white tee. It’s effortless and a fail-safe style to fall back on time and time again. It’s the style that never really went anywhere, but at the same time it’s making a comeback.
Currently, your plain white tee is ramping it up a level and is about to be stealing the limelight. No longer just your basic layering component, the plain white tee is now adorned with slogans, usually something in French, and always in bright letterbox red shades. They’re having a moment and they’re becoming more than the overlooked basic, edging towards the star of the show.
I for one, am loving the trend. There’s something about a slogan in that letterbox shade of red that adds a really classic vintage feel when paired with denim. Maybe it’s just that Levi’s have done so well with their branding over the years that we instantly associate that red shade with vintage denim styles. Either way, I’m here for it.
This Paris tee from And Other Stories (my number one store at the moment!) is my participation in the trend. I love how the detail running off centre makes it a different take on lots of the other styles I’ve seen. I wanted to keep the look really classic, so paired the t-shirt with these distressed jeans from All Saints and a classic black leather jacket. And finally my Zara sock boots, of course. That you guys have now seen about a million times. They have officially taken the top spot as my best fashion purchase of AW17/18, they just seem to go with everything and I can’t stop wearing them!
