The Jumper Dress

A jumper dress is the perfect piece for those cosy Autumn days, where you want to look reasonably put together, but still be warm and comfortable. Those days where the air is crisp, but it’s just warm enough to still have your legs out – or if it’s not then you can pair your jumper dress with some knee high boots.

They are the perfect answer to comfort dressing, but paired with the right accessories, are still able to appear as if you’ve made an effort. And that is why I’ll be collecting more than one to add to my Autumn/Winter wardrobe this year.

Jumper dresses are that trusty piece you can reach for, without even thinking. Perfect to throw on, on a Sunday when you’re heading to the pub with family, for a lazy afternoon walk, or over to your boyfriends for a roast. A jumper dress is the ideal weekend attire, but extremely versatile, so don’t rule them out for the office either. Paired with some heeled ankle boots, like i’m wearing here, smartens the look up instantly, add some statement jewellery and you’re good to go.

I’ve personally found that a jumper dress made from a slightly lighter knit can be more flattering than a really chunky version, as these can be a little overwhelming on my figure.

This cream jumper dress from ASOS, paired with my Zara sock boots and a leather jacket is a favourite combo right now. But it also looks equally great dressed down with a pair of simple white trainers. Or why not switch out the leather jacket for a faux fur gilet. For jewellery, a longer pedant style necklace would work well to break up the expanse of one material on the dress, and add interest to an otherwise one-dimensional look.

I’m all about dressing for comfort and cosiness in the winter months where possible. So anything I can wear that is comfy but still looks good, in a win for me!
