Every year, as soon as the season starts to turn and I finally cave to the fact that I can no longer get away with my summer sandals, one of the pieces I look forward to purchasing the most is a new pair of ankle boots, or three. A staple to any Autumn/Winter wardrobe but each year, there are always new and different styles to be excited by. This year in particular, I have found myself lusting after a number of different styles of ankle boots, and really inspired by a lot of the trends that I can’t wait to get my hands on.
One of the key trends that you have probably spotted, are sock boots. Styles that rise far above the ankle, almost a third of the way up the calf, are particularly on trend. And it’s no surprise why they’re a favourite, as they uphold wonderful leg elongating abilities. The Balenciaga knife boots are a luxury pair that you may have spotted climbing the rankings as a key fashion piece for the season. If you love the style, but not the price tag then you’re in luck, as the high street stores are creating some fantastic inspired by styles. The pair that I opted for, is from Zara and I have featured them in this post. The sock style and length of the boots emulate the look and feel of the Balenciaga pair, but the addition of silver block heel means they are much more comfortable for those long days in the city.
White ankle boots, are an unexpected trend, but one that I have fallen for as it is such an unusual look. White boots aren’t a trend I can recall ever really seeing before, so it feels like an exciting and fresh new twist on the ankle boot. While being a bold piece and certainly a statement contribution to your outfit, their neutral shade means that they still maintain a simplicity when it comes to styling. There’s lots of luxury brands nailing the trend (Stella McCartney and Gianvito Rossi, I’m looking at you!) but I’m yet to find my perfect pair of white boots on the high street. I’ll be keeping my eyes on the new in sections in the coming weeks.
Hiker inspired boots, are another style that I’ve got my eye on and diversify from other much sleeker trends that I have on my wish list. Recognisable by their chunky soles, lace up fastenings and metal detailing, they’re your utilitarian option for the season. For those more casual days they are perfect, or even to add edginess to a pretty blouse and jeans. Plus there’s room for some pretty thick socks under there so your toes will stay toasty.
Let me know which of these trends you love and which style of boots you’ll be wearing this season!
