Although ruffles have been having a moment for quite a while now, this is my first time dipping a toe into the trend. Which, judging by the Autumn/Winter collections coming in, isn’t going anywhere.
As a lifelong polka-dot-hater, this is really not the sort of pattern I would usually go for. However, sitting somewhere between speckled and polka dot, the ruffles and shape of this blouse are what won me over. Along with the classic black and white pattern, this is easily a piece that can be taken swiftly from day to night.
This certainly won’t be the last time you’ll be seeing this denim skirt either (previous feature here), as I’m already planning how to transition it into the colder months. Here, my favourite pink Zara bag makes another appearance and I’ve thrown on my River Island striped sliders, which I cannot stop wearing every time I see a glimpse of sunshine.
Another style that you wont usually spot me participating in, is mixing patterns. But as this skirt and blouse are both from the same neutral colour palette, broken up by a basic denim piece, it’s a subtle clash that works perfectly together.
