What’s in my Christmas Make-Up Bag?

I thought I’d do a classic post today, but with a festive twist – What’s in My Christmas Make-Up Bag? On Christmas day, when the whole family has stayed over the night before, there’s a rush with everyone getting ready to enjoy the festivities, I like to keep things simple.

I will be reaching for my favourite products that I can rely on to give me the best results. Adding a touch of extra glitz from everyday, but overall I play it safe. Choosing to minimise the time spent of my make-up and maximise the time spent with family. And of course, avoiding any make-up disasters documented in the Christmas albums for years to come!

The tradition within my family is getting all dressed up, even though we’re just lazing around the house. It makes everything feel that little bit more special. I’ll be making sure i’m all pampered and prepped with a luxurious routine on Christmas Eve to keep things super straight forward on the big day.

The Products

The base that I’ll be reaching for is an all time drugstore favourite of mine. It’s the foundation that I grab when I’m running low on supplies and have 30 seconds to pop into Boots. The L’Oreal True Match foundation is a drugstore classic and one of the best out there. For a luminous dewy finish, build-able coverage and one of the best shade selections available you can’t go wrong.

For concealer I’ll be using the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer over the corrector in Peach. And to set everything in place, Rimmel’s Stay Matte Powder in Translucent. To bronze up my face I’ll be using Estée Lauder’s Bronze Goddess in the shade Medium. Applying into the hollows of my cheeks and then using the remaining product to warm the rest of my complexion.

For that hint of Christmas glow, I’m going to use the beautifully warm, golden highlighter from Charlotte Tilbury’s Filmstar Bronze and Glow palette. It adds the perfect amount of golden sparkle, glistening under the festive lights.

For brows I’ll be keeping it super simple, with my one and only combination right now. The Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade, set with L’Oreal’s Brow Artiste Plumper.

You can never have too much sparkle at Christmas, and one of my favourite ways to incorporate a subtle shimmer into my festive make up routine is with the Volume Million Lashes Glitter Top Coat by L’Oreal. After applying my usual mascara I’ll follow with a coat of this to add that little something extra.

I can never decide in advance which eye shadow look I will be going for, which is why I haven’t included a palette in this post. I’ll probably be dipping into many. Something neutral toned and sparkly is always a good bet and without a doubt what I’ll be going for!

Lip products are another thing I can never choose in advance, although it will be a combination of nudes for sure. My current favourite is the NARS lipgloss in the shade Chelsea Girls, over the top of a nude lip liner. Although it is higher maintenance than a liquid lip, it is much less drying and can quickly be re-applied without a mirror. Hence I’m loving it at the moment!

My finishing touch will be a spritz of my favourite scent of the moment, Tom Ford Velvet Orchid. It’s warm notes of Honey, Rum and Mandarin mixed with a base of Vanilla make it the perfect feminine and rich festive fragrance.
